Flamingo Croquet

Each year, the city of Mumbai welcomes the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) and Lesser Flamingo (Phoeniconaias minor).

They fly from Kutch in Gujarat and stay in Mumbai for around six months. Arriving in November and leaving by June, the best time to see them is during January to March as these months sport the maximum number.

On 5th March, I woke up when I’m usually falling asleep, 4am. A Sunday, might I add – to catch a glimpse of the flamingos in the Airoli creek. My cousin & I found our way there in an Uber, joining the Wild Nest group.

You can check out their website: www.wildnest.in

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would highly recommend you catch this sighting if you are able too!
